At the heart of the Protestant Reformation was the conviction that the Bible is the only rule for faith and life. For some Protestants this understanding of the authority of Scripture suggests that the Bible speaks infallibly and specifically on every aspect of life, from politics to music. In this view, the comprehensiveness of biblical teaching extends logically to sex. And yet when it comes to reflection on the intimate affairs between husbands and wives, church newspapers and theological journals are usually quiet. This issue of Modern Reformation has been assembled with the conviction that theology matters even to as private and contentious a topic as sex.
